1912 Delahaye Restoration
This article is from the June 2020 edition of "Reflection" magazine by the Wagga Wagga Veteran & Vintage Motor Club. It documents the restoration of Arthur Garthon's 1912 Delahaye.
During the week I had a phone call from Arthur Garthon, who had found some very interesting information regarding the value of a couple of Delahaye vehicles in France.
Here is a lovely photo of the Garthon’s with their restored Type 43 – 1912 Delahaye, chassis o.6099. This photo was taken in Yarralumla, ACT in 1992.

Browsing through his Delahaye magazine, Arthur spotted a couple of vehicles for sale, which were very close in age to his vehicle. But as the photos suggest, in need of restoration.

This is a 1911 Delahaye Type 43 flat-bed lorry, chassis no. 5387. This vehicle was estimated to get between 2 and 3,000 euros. It was actually sold for 25,032 €. Equivalent to about $42,000 AU.

This 1914 Delahaye Type 43, chassis no. 7965, with coachwork by Audineau et Cie, was estimated to fetch between 6 and 8,000 € . This lot found a new home for 65,560 € . You can do the Math. What a wonderful story. Thanks Arthur.
